Pakistan, Islamic Law Debate Reignites as Virtual Assets Move into the Mainstream
According to Reuters on the 13th (local time), Bilal bin Saqib, chairman of Pakistan’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA), said he discussed blockchain, digital assets, stablecoins, and real-world asset (RWA) tokens with prominent scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani.
Saqib said digital assets cannot be judged by a single standard and stressed that they must be reviewed through both technical analysis and Sharia compliance checks.
The renewed debate comes as Pakistan keeps moving to integrate crypto into the institutional system, making the legal and religious treatment of digital assets a central issue for market growth.
