JPYC Surges to 37.6 KRW... Industry Proposes Liquidity Safeguards for Won-Pegged Stablecoins

  • News1 reported that industry sources argued won-stablecoin rules should cover initial circulating supply, issuance/redemption structures, and secondary-market liquidity, in addition to issuer, minimum capital, and reserve requirements.
  • JPYC jumped to 37.6 KRW shortly after Upbit began supporting its trading on September 17, more than four times its roughly 8.8 KRW reference price based on the then-prevailing KRW/JPY exchange rate.
  • PYUSD also swung sharply on Upbit the same day, ranging from 1,379 KRW to 1,760 KRW.
