PPP: "Can you take responsibility if crypto taxation isn't ready?" Deputy PM: "I will"

  • At the September 28 National Assembly Strategy and Finance Committee plenary session, PPP lawmaker Park Soo-young asked Deputy PM Lee Hyung-il whether he would take responsibility if digital asset taxation preparations fall short; Lee said he would.
  • Park argued for a delay in digital asset taxation, citing data on decreasing net inflows to domestic crypto exchanges and increasing net outflows from some exchanges.
  • Lee confirmed that digital asset taxation remains scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027.
