South Korea Seizes 136.2 Billion Won in Crypto Assets from Tax Delinquents, but Sells Only 0.09%
South Korea's 17 metropolitan and provincial governments seized crypto assets from local tax delinquents nationwide between 2022 and 2025.
The seized crypto assets totaled 136.2 billion Korean won (about $100 million), but only 0.09% of that amount has been liquidated to date.
Rep. Jin Jong-oh of the People Power Party released the data, pointing to major inefficiencies in local governments' process for converting seized crypto into cash for tax collection.
