DP's Oh Ki-hyung: If Crypto Taxation Is Ready, Assembly Intends to Implement as Scheduled, Not Abruptly Change Course

  • DP lawmaker Oh Ki-hyung pushed back on renewed calls within his own party to delay virtual asset (digital asset) taxation again, arguing it should take effect as scheduled.
  • At an October 6 National Assembly inspection session, he put the question to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Lee Hyoung-il, asking whether the conditions previously cited for deferral have now been sufficiently met.
  • He pointed out that the digital asset tax law, enacted in December 2020, has already been postponed three times through agreement between the ruling and opposition parties.
