Democratic Party Lawmaker Also Proposes Bill to Delay Crypto Taxation by Two Years, Targeting 2029 Implementation

  • Rep. Park Min-gyu (Democratic Party of Korea) proposed an amendment to the Income Tax Act linking crypto tax implementation to international data-exchange timing.
  • The bill sets the taxation start date as January 1 of the year that falls two years after the first international exchange of crypto transaction data.
  • Under the OECD's Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF), the first such data exchange is scheduled for 2027, meaning the bill, if passed, would push crypto taxation to 2029.
