Australia Releases CARF Draft Legislation — Comments on Crypto Asset Reporting Due by the 28th
Treasury published the exposure draft of the 'Treasury Laws Amendment Bill 2026: Tax Transparency Reporting' along with explanatory materials on October 15.
The draft incorporates the OECD's Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) into Australian law, requiring crypto asset service providers to report customer transaction data to tax authorities.
Public consultation on the draft is open until October 28, following up on Treasury's 2024 consultation paper on the same framework.
