"Suspend crypto tax, then redesign it"... Cho Sang-hyeok, the 'Bull Ant' who drove a 53,809-signature petition

  • A National Assembly public petition backed by 53,809 signatures was formally referred to the legislature, following protests that included a truck campaign and solo picketing in front of the Assembly.
  • About 510 investors joined the effort and raised roughly 50 million won in donations to support the campaign led by Cho Sang-hyeok of the 'Bulgaemi' (Bull Ant) crypto community.
  • Cho argues the tax rate is not the main issue; the real problems are the absence of gain/loss offsetting, no loss carryforward deduction, and weak tax administration infrastructure ahead of the planned 2027 crypto tax.
