"Naver-Dunamu Merger Raises Monopoly Concerns"... FSC Says It Is "Reviewing Safeguards in the Digital Asset Act"
The FSC is reviewing safeguard provisions in the draft Digital Asset Act to protect the public nature and neutrality of virtual asset exchanges.
The review follows concerns that a corporate combination between Naver Financial and Dunamu (operator of the Upbit exchange) could create market monopoly risk.
The Korea Fair Trade Commission is separately examining whether the Naver-Dunamu combination would restrict competition, per the FSC's written response to Rep. Lee Kang-il (Democratic Party) dated October 22.
