Crypto Asset Taxation's First Information Exchange Pushed Back Two Years — Linked Bill Introduced

  • Rep. Park Min-gyu (Democratic Party of Korea) and 13 other lawmakers introduced the amendment to the Income Tax Act on October 16 (bill no. 2221923).
  • The bill links the start of crypto asset taxation to the year of the first international exchange of crypto transaction data under the Act on International Tax Coordination, setting taxation to begin on January 1 of the second year after that exchange.
  • If the first data exchange takes place in 2027 and the bill is enacted, taxation would start January 1, 2029, though this date is not yet confirmed since both the exchange timing and the bill's passage remain undecided.
