Korean exchange GOPAX suspends deposits/withdrawals and trading after hacking threat email; no attack has occurred
GOPAX moved the majority of hot wallet (internet-connected) assets into cold wallets (offline storage) and canceled all unfilled orders; as of the end of September it held 80.54% of customer assets in cold storage, near the 80% minimum required under Korea's Virtual Asset User Protection Act and below Upbit (99.17%), Bithumb (94.76%), and Coinone (85%), per Financial Supervisory Service data.
No resumption date has been announced for either trading or deposits/withdrawals.
Withdrawals can no longer be requested directly via GOPAX's website or app; requests submitted through customer support will be processed manually and sequentially after internal review and approval.
