Scope of restrictions set to expand to assets tradable or settled on virtual asset platforms, as Hong Kong SFC advances rule amendments
The SFC plans to extend the coverage of its restrictions to any asset that can be traded or settled on licensed virtual asset platforms, not just a fixed list of token types.
The move is aimed at closing potential regulatory gaps as platforms increasingly list new or hybrid products, including tokenized assets.
The amendment is part of the SFC's broader push to update Hong Kong's virtual asset regulatory framework to keep rules aligned with market developments.
