About

Dilip Chenoy is an Indian industry-policy executive who has spent decades running business associations. He was Deputy Director-General of the Confederation of Indian Industry and Director-General of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. He was Managing Director and CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation from 2010 to 2015, and became Secretary-General of FICCI in 2018.

In March 2023 he was named the first Chairman of the Bharat Web3 Association, the industry body for Indian crypto and Web3 firms. He is the association's main public voice on tax, regulation and consumer protection.

Chenoy has pushed for tax relief and clearer rules for virtual digital assets. At a pre-budget session in January 2026 he proposed cutting TDS on crypto trades from 1% to 0.1% and allowing losses to be set off against gains. He has also fronted BWA's work on cybersecurity and investor awareness. This matters because India taxes crypto heavily but still has no dedicated regulatory framework.
