What we ask

  1. Legislate the Digital Asset Basic Act so Korean firms can expand at home.
  2. Institutionalise the grey zone so traditional finance and crypto platforms can merge.

Global firms are racing to build the 'everything exchange', where traditional finance and digital assets trade in one place with a full range of financial services.

Korea's most urgent task is legislation such as the Digital Asset Basic Act. Without a clear legal basis, Korean financial firms cannot commit. Mirae Asset has gone to Hong Kong and Hanwha to Abu Dhabi.

What clarity would unlock

Traditional financial groups are buying stakes in exchanges. Once the grey zone is regulated, integration of the two industries' platforms can accelerate.
