About

Lin Chu-yin (林楚茵) studied political science at Soochow University. She worked as a television reporter for Global TV, CTi TV, ETtoday and TVBS, and later as a public relations project manager. At SET News she was deputy director of the political news centre and the news-gathering centre, and she hosted the programme "前進新台灣".

She is a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) at-large member of the Legislative Yuan. She was first elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2024. In her first term she sat on the Finance Committee and served as its convener in one session. In the current term she sits on the Foreign Affairs and National Defence Committee.

She tabled her own draft of the Virtual Asset Service Act, which was reviewed with other versions before the act passed on 30 June 2026. She named three priorities: replacing registration with licensing by the FSC, with a two-year transition; penalties of up to 10 years in prison and NT$200 million in fines for crypto fraud and market manipulation; and a legal basis for stablecoins with full reserves and segregated assets. She argued the law would help defrauded investors and stop unfair competition against compliant firms.
