About

The Taiwan Virtual Asset Service Provider Association is Taiwan's industry body for crypto exchanges and trading businesses. It was set up after the FSC became the crypto regulator in March 2023 and issued its VASP guidance in September 2023. It held its first members' assembly on 13 June 2024 with 24 member companies, and its first chair was 蕭滙宗 of Chaintech. In March 2026 it changed its Chinese name from 中華民國虛擬通貨商業同業公會 to 中華民國虛擬資產服務商業同業公會. Its chair is 鄭光泰.

The association says it acts as a bridge between the industry and government, sets self-regulatory standards and works on investor protection. In March 2026 it set up three committees: one on token listing and delisting, one on discipline, and one on fraud prevention, anti-money laundering and compliance.

After the Virtual Asset Service Act passed on 30 June 2026, it pledged to help the authorities draft the implementing rules and to guide members through the move to licensing. In August 2026 it endorsed the FSC's phased Travel Rule rollout: domestic transfers between service providers from October 2026, and cross-border transfers by the end of 2027. It then compiled members' Travel Rule notices for the public. It has also signed an MoU with India's Bharat Web3 Association on self-regulation and anti-fraud work.

Policy engagement
