About

The Korea Internet Corporations Association is an industry body for Korea's internet and platform companies. It launched on 3 March 2000 with about 100 internet companies as founding members, and Lee Geum-yong of Auction was its first chair. Its members today include Naver, Kakao, Coupang, NCSoft and Nexon, as well as the Korean arms of Google, Meta and Netflix.

The association is chaired by Park Seong-ho. It makes policy proposals and pushes for regulatory changes on behalf of its members. Its Digital Economy Research Institute publishes research reports and issue papers.

On digital assets, the association has opposed ownership-based rules in the second-phase digital asset legislation. In February 2026 it co-hosted a symposium on the proposed ownership caps for crypto exchanges. In March 2026 its research institute published a white paper opposing a 15 to 20% cap on major shareholders of exchanges, and the requirement that banks hold 50% plus one share of won stablecoin issuers. The paper argued that these rules have no precedent in the US, EU, Japan or Singapore and would hold back fintech and platform firms. It proposed conduct-based rules on reserves, disclosure and internal controls instead.
